About us

Tutto iniziò così...

Our story does not start directly as a tourist activity, but from a friendship. Way back in 1962 Franco and Massimo, friends for some time, decide to want to make an investment, but not one of those that lead you to fill your pockets, but that fill your heart. They decide to buy land, yes because then there was only that, some blade of grass and some fig, typical of the area. Back then Casal Velino was an almost deserted place, few had believed it. But Franco and Massimo knew that this would be the perfect place to make a home, or rather the house; one in which their children and grandchildren and children of grandchildren and so on, would have spent the happiest and happiest moments of their lives. So they bought the land and divided it exactly in half.

Massimo started building his house, but we won't be telling this story, because our story continues with Franco.

Franco, or rather Grandpa Franco, my grandfather, began construction in 19 ** and brick by brick, a little at a time, raised it. Obviously he did not do everything by himself, but he directed the work himself, also taking care of the projects, on the other hand he was a surveyor! But it must be said that Nonna Maria also did her part, supporting him at all times.

After so much effort and some sacrifices, in 1966, the year in which my mother, Rosaria, was also born, the construction was completed and finally the home holidays began (I didn't invent this word, but it is propio so what do you say!).

I wasn't there yet, but I have heard many stories, dinners in the company of friends, many friends; relatives quarreling almost to come here and romantic moments at sunset.

When I was born, Grandfather was overjoyed, in reality everyone was, the fact is that I have always been his favorite granddaughter - in fact I was the only one - so he decided to call the house, Villa Martina.

In this magical place I spent the most beautiful holidays. I always say that everyone has passed through Villa Martina, but in reality this is not the case, only the important people in my life have passed. So important that I would like to mention a few, first of all Aunt Melina, the most fantastic aunt there is, omnipresent and omnipatient (ok, I invented this); Lydia, friend, but more than a sister, with whom I have been sharing the room at home for years now; Viviana, a historical friend, with whom I spent the most beautiful Easter holidays ever, and this was also possible thanks to her fantastic family; my coaches who have given me so much; Aurelia, Maurizio and Mattia, our guests who later became great friends.

Sorry if I haven't shown up yet. I am Martina and this is my home. Even if it is a villa I like to call it home, because the house is the place where you are comfortable with your family and friends and that is why Villa Martina, even before being a villa, is a house.
